The objective of this study is to develop a decision model to increase asphalt drum production that meets qualification to be distributed to the consumers, so the decision can be executed faster, accurately, effectively and efficiently. The development of this decision model is being made by integrating between six sigma and Analytic Hierarchy Process method. In this research, six sigma methods is merely for fixing production system and increasing the amount of no defect asphalt drum production that is qualified to be distributed to the consumers. Six sigma methods is a quality/ process control method that early has been developed in manufacturing company, namely Motorola Company, in early 1990 that have grown significantly by General Electric (Pyzdek, 2002). Developing six sigma methods is applied to answer the challenge of incorrect previous assumption that producing a qualified product will require a higher cost. Six sigma implementation is going through some level of conducting steps that usually called DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improvement, and Control). On the other hand, in the six sigma method approach, there might have been arising problem. There is not any structured and systematic way especially in choosing the alternatives that is going to be taken. As an example, the chosen team envisages many criteria and alternatives at hand. Choosing the first priority problem needs a structured and systematic way. One of them is Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) that will support decision making. The result is a multicriteria decision model that has been integrated with six sigma method, especially to choose improvement or redesign alternatives. Otherwise, AHP and six sigma integration model have been contributed in designing decision model at Define and Analyze phase. Case study of the proposed model has been conducted in Drum Plant Pertamina UP IV Cilacap. |
