Description
Summary:Observation of gear vibration signal is important aspect in implementing predictive maintenance technology on machinery which uses gear to transmit power or velocity. This vibration signal is utilized to detect early fault symptoms on gear. Any fault on gear can be caused by several factors, such as assembly and geometrical faults (defects). These can lead unique vibration characteristic on the signal of gear mesh spectrum. One of the unique vibration signal that indicates some faults on gear is sideband frequency of the power spectum. Sideband signals indicate that gear mesh spectrum has been modulated by some defects.
This research will analyze about gear vibration response on several condition of gear speeds and shaft inclination values. This research is started by measuring the quality of gear geometry to find out geometrical fault or defect on gear. Then the acquired data will be analyzed to find out relationship between geometrical fault and gear vibration signatures. FRF measurement is carried out to detect natural frequencies when measuring the vibration response.
The acquired data shows that in general when shaft inclination, is increased then the vibration level of gear will increase accordingly. In addition, the acquired data also shows that gear eccentricity will produce amplitude modulation on its waveform or sideband signals on its power spectrum.
