Based on external factor, the variable stars divided into three groups, i.e. rotating variable stars, eclipsing variable stars, and pre-main-sequence variable stars. There is also one group of variable star which is called miscellaneous variable stars. Miscellaneous variable stars are stars which variability is caused by both internal and external factor. There are three variable stars which have been observed successfully: MT Tel, RS Gru, and SX Phe. The observations have been conducted with Vixen VMC200L (d= 200 mm, f/9.75) and CCD ST-402ME without filter in Astronomy Study Program ITB in 18-19 and 19-20 August 2009. After being processed with IRIS, the data obtained were used to made light curves. These light curves compared with light curve in scientific journal. As result, the light curves showed the same trend with those from scientific journals. Therefore, the small telescope such as Vixen VMC200L can be used to observe variable stars. Although these data can not be used to determine the physical parameters of variable stars, but at least they reveal the trend of light curve from each type of variable stars and can be used to study the timing, monitoring, and etc. <br /> text |
