Description
Summary:Modular spindle consists of spindle shaft and its case, transmission, and main drive. Spindle module is main part of machining center. Because of that, principles of spindle module design need to be developed. Methodologies used for research are literature study and Modular spindle design. First step in modular spindle design is to define machining parameter. Second step is to choose motor, transmission, and cutter-holder clamping unit. Third step is to define spindle and its housing dimension and also bearing position to obtain static and dynamic characteristic of spindle module. Last step is choose bearing lubrication and analyze bearing heat generation and grease lubrication interval. Design of drilling spindle module has been made, by specification power 5,5 kW and maximum rotation 8500 rpm. Maximum spindle static-deflection is 2,4 um and spindle resonant frequency about 700-5000 Hz. Motor chosen for the modular spindle is Siemens 1PM6-101 and holder nose designed based on DIN 228 Morsekegel.
