Description
Summary:Klewih is one of Artocarpus communis varieties, which is occurred troughout the archipelago. Fruits from this seeded form is used to make soup. This plant belongs to Artocarpus genus, well-known as a folk medicine and have been known as a rich sources of medicinal chemical. A. communis is one of the sources of phenolic compounds, including isoprenylated-flavone which have various interesting biological activity. In this investigation, from the extract of tree bark klewih has been isolated cycloartobiloxanthone, an isoprenylated flavone with furanodihydrobenzoxanthone sceleton. It has sitotoxic activity against murine leukimia P388 cell with IC50 = 3,2 ug/mL. The structure of this compound determined based on spectroscopy data including UV-vis/IR and proton 1H NMR spectrum, and by comparison with cycloartobiloxanthone standard compound. <br />
