Summary: | Background: The preservation of a healthy Periodontium is critical for the long-term success of a restored tooth. Gingival enlargement is one of a common feature of gingival disease which can be caused by gingival inflammation, fibrous over growth, or a combination
of the two. The most widely employed surgical approaches for the treatment of gingival enlargements is gingivectomy, by laser, or conventional means. Case: A-19-years-old has gingival enlargement problem on anterior maxilla. Patient wanted to eliminate the enlargement. Management: Gingivectomy using conventional technique on tooth 11-13 and laser on tooth 21-23. In this case we
used pehacain as anatthesia and after surgery amoxicillin as antibiotic and mefenamat acid as analgesic, each given three times a days for five days. Result: After 7 days in regio 11-13 there still had rubor, dolor and little bit bleeding. But in regio 21-23 just have rubor and dolor without bleeding. After 14 days there was no more rubor and bleeding. Conclusion: For gingivectomi result using
scalpel better than using laser, but for efficiency and easy used laser better that scalpel. |
