Summary:This research aims to know and analyze the effect of Porang tubers extract on microscopic features of the duodenum of rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by 5 mg/KgBW doses of Indometasin. Twenty five male rats (Rattus norvegicus) were divided into five groups: K(+), K(-), and treatments groups P1, P2, and P3 with doses of extract of Porang tubers: 50;100;200 mg/KgBW with an average body weight of 150-200 gram. Extract of Porang tubers was giving before an Indometasin, and delivered orally. Histophatology of the duodenum, like damage to epithelial erosions, ulcer and the number of inflammatory infiltration cells, was seen as a result of this study. The study results showed that Indometasin caused damage to the duodenum mucosal like epithelial erosions, ulcer and the infiltration of inflammatory cells. The most severe injury epithelial erosions is in group K(+) with mean rank scoring value is 20,60, ulcer 20,10 and infiltration of inflammatory cell 19,30. Given the extract of Porang tubers with a multilevel dose reduced the damage to mucosal injury like epithelial erosions, ulcer and decreased the number of inflammatory cells. The lowest mean rank scoring of epithelial erosions is in the P3 group; it is 8,10, which had not significantly different value as the K(-) group. The lowest mean rank scoring of ulcer mucosal is in the P3 group; it is 6,90, which had not significantly different value as the K(-) group. Similarly, the mean rank scoring value in the P3 group had the lowest number of infiltration of inflammatory cells 9,10. In conclusion, the Porang tubers extract has an improvement effect on the microscopic of duodenum induced by Indometasin.
