Summary: | Malaria, filaria and Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) are dieases transmitted by Aedes aegypti female mosquito. In Indonesia, dengue hemorrhagic fever appears as an extraordinary disease. One of the ways to controlling transmission of hemorrhagic fever is to avoid mosquito bites using repellent. The repellent currently used has the active ingredient N-N diethylmetatoluamide (DEET). DEET is chemical substance that has toxicity effects and has a negative impact on the environment because its residue and non biodegradable. Therefore, it is necessary to do repellent research using natural insectisides that are safer and does not pose a negative risk to the environment. In last several time, plants utilization which contains the active substance of flavonoid, saponin, tanin, alkaloid and essential oil has been developed. The Acalypha hispida leaves contains the active substance of flavonoid which is has active substance kaempherol and qercetine, saponin, tanin, alkaloid and essential oil. The purpose of this research is the repellent efficacy of Acalypha hispida leaf ethanol extract against Aedes aegypti. The concentrations used in this research were 10%, 30%, 50%, 70% and 90%. Based on the result of the study, the Acalypha hispida leaf ethanol extract is effectively used as repellent against Aedes aegypti with effective dose 50% is 22,57% and effective dose 99% is 87,96%. |
