Summary:This study aimed to discover the effect of porang tuber (Amorphallus onchopyllus) extract on the level of malondialdehyde (MDA) induced by indomethacin in rat (Rattus norvegicus). Twenty male Wistar Rats (175-225 g) were randomly divided into five groups. C(-) was negative control which was given drug solvent, C(+) was positive control given a extract solvent and indomethacin administration on days 4 to 14, T(1), T(2), and T(3) were groups that were treated with porang tuber extract in dose of 50mg/kg BW, 100mg/kg BW, 200mg/kg BW and indomethacin administration on days 4 to14. Dose of Indomethacin are 5 mg/kg BW and were given one hours after extract administration. The treatment was conducted for 7 days of adaptation and 14 days of total treatments. Blood was taken in manner of intracardiac, serum processing, and malondialdehyde level of identification on day 15. The result showed that there is no significant difference (p>0,05) in C(+) and T(1) groups, among porang tuber treatment groups, as well as C(-) and T(3) groups. It can be concluded that porang tuber was effectively work on lower level of malondialdehyde in dose of 200mg/kg BW.
