Pengaruh Keberadaan Mikroplastik dalam Air Laut terhadap Potensinya sebagai Substitusi Sumber Air Baku Air Minum di Kabupaten Badung, Provinsi Bali

Badung Regency has a high demand for drinking water with an increase of 17.1-22.5% every year. Massive development, exploitation of groundwater, and river pollution have resulted in the supply of raw water continuing to decline resulting in an imbalance, so that raw water reserves from other sources...

Description
Summary:Badung Regency has a high demand for drinking water with an increase of 17.1-22.5% every year. Massive development, exploitation of groundwater, and river pollution have resulted in the supply of raw water continuing to decline resulting in an imbalance, so that raw water reserves from other sources are needed. Badung Regency has abundant sea water which, based on quantity, has the potential as a substitute for raw water sources for drinking water. Quality studies are needed, one of which is related to issues that are currently the attention of researchers, namely the presence of microplastics or plastic particles measuring <5 mm. This study aims to determine the abundance of microplastics based on the shape, type of polymer, the effect and potential of using sea water as a source of raw water for drinking water in Badung Regency. Samples were taken from Kuta, Jimbaran, and Balangan Beaches at one point each by taking a triplo. Sample preparation using the Catalytic Wet Peroxidation Oxidation method was then filtered using a 1.2 μm Whatman Glass Filter. Identification of the type of microplastic using a Dino-Lite Edge AM7915 series microscope and polymer with FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra Red). The results showed that microplastics were found in seawater in Badung Regency, namely fragments 157.7-180, films 106-206.7, filaments 332-418.7, foams 62.7-120, granules 136-220, and pellets 25.3 -29.3 in units of particles/L. Types of microplastic polymers, namely polypropylene and polyethylene. The influence of microplastics causes blockage of the Reverse Osmosis membrane. Seawater in Badung Regency has the potential as a substitute for raw water sources for drinking water.
