in Kars. It is when the state is able to gain the power and aim of secular state. There is the clash between the state and Muslim. This study explores the politics of identity practices of Turkey secular state toward Kars Muslim. Michael Kenny’s theories about the politics of identity and Jefrey Weeks’ and Hendropuspito’s theory about identity are considered as the most suitable theories related to the topic. The theory of Islamic identity also involves to identify Islamic identity. On one hand, the identity and Islamic identity theory is used to observe the Kars Muslim identity. And the other hand, the politics of identity is
used to analyse the repression of the state toward Kars Muslim identity. This study finds a clear definition and explanation about the politics of identity of the
state toward Kars Muslim identity. Moreover, through the study the writer of this thesis finds that the Kars Muslim also do the struggle toward the state in facing the repression. |
