The writer uses the theory of psychoanalysis by Freud such as anxiety, depression, defense mechanism, and dream displacement to gain an understanding in analyzing Faith’s mental breakdown. The writer uses theory of anxiety and depression to observe the case of Faith White for causing her mental breakdown. The writer also uses the defense mechanism to explain profoundly about how Faith White copes her anxiety and depression. The writer also uses the dream displacement in case of Faith White’s substitution. In conclusion, the writer shows that Faith experienced her mental breakdown affecting by her parents divorce and she wishes that she can fulfills her desire toward her imaginary friend.
