Summary: | The purpose of this paper is to study the influence of using mind mapping as a methodology to help students to plan effectively for writing of news item. The population in this research is SMAN 1 Sooko Mojokerto. The research method was an experimental research, which conducted in two classes; the experimental group (X 9) and control group (X 11). The X 9 taught write news item by using mind map, while the X 11 taught without mind map. The writer gave writing test to gather the data. There were two test; pre test and post test. The formula that was used to analyze the data was Wilcoxon-Mann Whitney U test. It was used to determine whether there was a significance difference between students’ score in experimental group and students’ score in control group. The obtained test statistics was 0.007 that is less than 0.05. It means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected or in other words, there is significance difference between control and experiment groups. Besides that, the Asymp.sig (2-tailed) is 0.000 which less than 0.05. It means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. It means that there is significance difference between pre test and post test in experimental group. Mind map technique could be used to stimulate students’ constructed, students’ critical thinking and built students’ ideas. Finally, mind map could help the achievement of learning success. |
