Summary: | This thesis is a study on literature which reveals the values of life carried on in the studied work of art. In particular, the object of the study here is D.H. Lawrence's short-story titled The Rocking-Horse Winner. The main purpose of the writer in this case is to know the theme of this short-story by analyzing the conflict of Paul as the main character. The theory used hereby is the objective theory of H.H. Abrams in his 'The Mirror and the Lamp', and the approach used here is the intrinsic approach because the writer focuses on the literary work itself and regards this short-story as the object of study and analyzes it through the intrinsic elements of it. This study is also a product of library research and the method chosen here is the descriptive method. |
