Patients with cervical cancer often get psychosocialspiritual stressor. The mental imagery technique can be applied in women with cervical cancer to reduce stress and to get a better quality of life. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of mental imagery technique on psychosocial and spiritual responses to patient with cervical cancer. This study used Quasy-Experimental design. Population were all women with cervical cancer at the Gynecology ward of Dr. Soetomo Hospital in Surabaya. The sample was collected by purposive sampling. The total sample of this reseach were 18 respondents consisting 9 respondents as control group and 9 respondents as experimental group, who satisfied the inclusion criteria. The independent variable of this reseach was mental imagery technique and the dependent variables were the psychosocial and spiritual responses. The data were collected by using questionnaire and interview. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann-Whitney with significance level p < 0,05. The result showed that there were some differences between control and experiment group on denial response (p=0,01), anger response (p=0,02), depression response (p=0,006), and acceptance response (p=0,009). On spiritual response (the reality expectation) this technique showed differences between control and experiment group with p = 0,01 but there were no differences between control and experiment group on social responses. It can be concluded, there is significant effect of mental imagery technique on psychology and spiritual response, while there is no effect on social response. Further study should identify the effect of mental imagery technique on immunity response by measure the cortisol. 2007 Thesis NonPeerReviewed text en https://repository.unair.ac.id/122534/1/WENNY%20PUTRI%20S%20010310570%20B_compressed-1.pdf Wenny Putri Susanti, - (2007) The Effect Of Mental Imagery Technique On The Psychosocial And Spiritual Response Changing On Patient With Cervical Cancer.
