Summary:Family support is one form of information or verbal / non verbal advice, real action for help family member which have emotional or behavior effect for receiver, in this case is child with mental retardation. The family support will affect the psychology factors in learning process. They will accept and understand the learning, in this case learning of activity daily living, more easy. So the developmental of independent activity daily living will increase well. Design used in this study was cross sectional design. Sample consisted of 16 respondents, enrolled using purposive sampling method. The independent variables were family support. The dependent variables were developmental of independent activity daily living child with mental retardation. Data were collected using structured questionnaire and respondent interview. Data were then analyzed using speannan rank correlation test with level of significance of 0. 05. Result showed that family support had a strong correlation with developmental of independent activity daily living child with mental retardation (p = 0,001). It can be concluded that better family support which give to the children with mental retardation can increase the development of independent activity daily living in child with mental retardation. Recommendation for the parents is to increase family support which Eriven to them children.
