Imidazole and its derivatives are proven have ability impairing dengue virus. One of potential imodazole’s derivatives is 2,4,5-triphenylimidazole (TPI). The presence of metal to the 2,4,5-triphenylimidazole (TPI) structure through a complex compound formation highly contributes to their ability as an inhibtor dengue virus replication. Iron, cobalt and zinc were used as an ion center in the complex compound. Complex Zn-TPI and Fe-TPI showed low cytotoxic effect at all the evaluated concentrations (viability > 50%). Complex Co-TPI showed reduction of DENV-3 growth, at the lowest concentration (6.25 µg/ml) exhibited the antiviral activity (DENV-3 reduction 43%). For Fe-TPI and ZnTPI, the reduction values of DENV-3 were 56% and 54.9% respectively.
