Summary: | Introduction: The use of postbiotics, which are defined as dead microorganisms and /or their components that provide health benehts to ihe target host, has been show to reduce the severiy of atopic dermatitis (AD) in several studies.
Methods: A sytematic Ierature review was conducted in Pubmed, the Cochrane Library, Sclence Direci, Clinicakrials.gov, and Google Scholar, covering the period from January 2012 10 July 2022 in accordance with he Prelened Reporting ems for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guideline. AD patients of al ages that received oral postBiotics or placebo as treatment were the focus of ihe study. The main study Outcome was ihe scoring of atopic dermatitis (SCORAD) and other measures, such as extension area, disease intensity, and adverse events. The Anal data were pooled using a fied-eifect model.
Result: A meta-anaiysis of three studies found that, compared to placebo, SCORAD was lower in Subiecis that were given oral postbiotics from Lactobacilus sp. (mean diference. -2.90, 9576 confidence interval JCI, —4.21, 1.56), Pt 9.0000). From the com parison of two studies, the diferences in disease extension (mean diference: 2.40, 95X C1 767, 2.81), P 0.37) and intensily (mean diterence: —0.27, 953. CII-0.Bg, 0:30, P — 0.36) were not significant.
Conelusions: The administration of oral postbiotics om Lactobacillus Sp. has the potential 19 allewiate the severiy of AD as indicalad bu a seduciian in SODRAD scaras. |
