Shobariyati, Sili ,Juwariyah : The 1nfluence of the Length of Stay of Madiun Dialect Speakers toward Their Preference in Using Dialect (Sociolinguistics Approach). Submitted as partial fulfillment of the requirement for the Sarjana degree of the English Department, Faculty of Letters, Airlangga University, 2000. Javanese has an important role for Surabaya people. They speak Surabayan dialect in their daily communication both in the family and in the social intercourse. Based on some theories, non-native speakers of a certain area will be influenced by the language used in their place of stay. This also happens to the dialect.
