Language has a function as media to interact One way to establish a meaningful conversation in society is applying politeness. Being polite does not only depend on the behavior of a person as a member of society, but also in daily conversation. This study discussed how the types of politeness strategies applied in Hitam Putih Talk 'Najwa Shihab Episode', in particular the use of face-threatening acts (FfAs) on how host treats the guests. This study used qualitative methods in interpreting the data from the transcription that be made from listening youtube. The writer analyzed the utterances of participants, among others, Deddy Corbuzier as host of Hitam Putih Talk Show, and Najwa Shihab as a main guest star to use politeness strategy's theory proposed by Brown & Levinson (1987). The Strategies that found in talk show's transcribing included 10 utterances of Bald on record, 9 Positive politeness, 2 utterances of Negative politeness, and 5 utterances of Off record. But not all the types of strategies applied in that talk show. This study also found four discourse elements in determining the data, such as participants, setting. topic, and purpose. For further study about politeness strategies, the writer suggests to next researcher to find politeness strategies in field studies, such as conversation in working world.
