Frances Hodgson Burnett is a novelist and children's writer. Her reputation rests as a writer rests on her famous children books and one among them is The Secret Garden which is considered- to be her best work. This novel focuses on the story about three children named Mary, Colin and Dickon. These children came from different background of family. They also had different attitudes, manners and habit before they met one another. Mary was very selfish, spoilt and never respected the others. Colin was a sickly, selfish and ill-tempered boy. Both of them were ten years old and came from rich family but always lacked of love and caring attention from their parents. They had no friends for being selfish. On the contrary, Dickon came from a humble family but he never lacked of love since his parents gave him enough tenderness and attention. He spent most of his time alone on the moor or sometimes with animals. He was a nice and friendly boy but had no peers. Eventually, they became friends. Their friendship had a tremendous power that it caused the change of their attitudes and habit.
