Language, as a means of communication, is very useful in running human activity. One kind of human activity, activity that uses language as its medium is producing humor. Surabaya Srimulat, one of comedy groups in Indonesia, cannot be separated from language. through certain ways the comedians of Srimulat manipulate language so that some humorous effects are generated. Srimulat Surabaya, which was born in 1950, originally presented its humor by using Javanese, as some other traditional arts such as Wayang, Ludruk and Kethoprak. In the course of time, Srimulat has undergone some changes. Nowadays, Srimulat does·not only but also Bahasa Indonesia.
