Summary:Knowledge management is an effort to manage knowledge in an organization. Nursing care documentation is an important aspect of nursing practice so that should assesed comprehensively. The purpose of the study was to analyze the nurse knowledge management of nursing care documentation at Delta Surya hospital at Sidoarjo. This research was an analytical descriptive conducted out on January 2011 at Delta Surya hospital at Sidoarjo that measured nursing care documentation through four steps of knowledge management by distributing quisioner to 60 nurses as total quota population as sample. Data of nurse education, percentage of trained nurse was gained by checklist. Data were analyzed using content analysis to find the causing factor of nursing care documentation. The results showed that knowledge creation, knowledge codification, and knowledge transfer of the nurse had causal relationship with nursing care documentation at Delta Surya Hospital at Sidoarjo, but knowledge aptication didn't have direct causal relationship with it. It can be concluded that the poor quality of nursing care documentation caused by lack of knowledge management of nurse. Low level of knowledge management in terms of nurses created knowledge, tess reading a books because of the small number collection of books available. Lack of computer facilities that can directly access to the internet in each rooms hospitalization, and lack of delivery nurses who attended seminars outside the hospital. The researcher recommended that the hospital manager should conduct inhouse training about nursing care documentation, provides a lot books about nursing care documentation and increase the number of nurses who deliverd outside hospital following the seminars.
