The aim of the this study was to know the effect of extract of klutuk banana peels (Musa brachycarpa) to decrease blood glucose concentration in mice was injected Alloxan.
Design used in this study was true experimental. Total sampel was 18 mice, taken according to calculation of minimal quantity sampel. There are divided into three groups. Group 1 is treated normal control, group 2 is treated diabetes control, and group 3 is treated diabetes mellitus and giving extract of Musa brachycarpa banana peels 1 g/kg weight. To rnake diabetes mellitus condition, injection Alloxan to mice with single dose 200 rng/kg weight intraperitoneal. The independent variable were extract klutuk banana peels (Musa brachycarpa). The dependent were blood glucose concentration. Data were collected using observation at 3 and 6 after treatment. Data were then analyzed using one-way anova test with level significant of < 0.05.
Result showed that extract of Musa brachycarpa had no significant effect to decrease blood concentration glucose in mice with diabetes mellitus (p > 0.05). It can be concluded that mice have slow metabolism so extract hadn't work to decrease blood glucose concentration until cause increase hyperglicemi. Beside that, in this study weared water extract so that active substance expected to decrease blood glucose concentration can't maximal work because possibility active substance come out less than etanol:water extract with comparation 70:30. |
