Description
Summary:Pain was one of the problems that need to be considered and prioritized on a femoral fracture patients who will underwent to surgery primarily. This pain could be mild, moderate or severe and even become intolerable that appear instantly and at any time after incident or on treatment. Skin traction could help to reduce the pain caused by muscle spasm related to disconnection of tissue around the fracture site. This study was aims to explain the relations of use skin traction with pain levels in pre operation femoral fracture patients in Sidoarjo hospital. This study used cross sectional design with population were all adult patients with femoral fracture pre installed operating atached to skin traction in January-February 2012 that were treated in yellow Rose, Lotus and Tulip rooms Sidoarjo Hospital amount 23 patients. Sample amount 23 respondents used total sampling technique. The independent variable in this study was use of skin traction, while the dependent variable was the pain level in pre operation femoral fracture patients. The· data was collect using questionnaires and observation at the pain level by Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Data analysis used statistical chi-square test with level of significance of :S 0,05. Result used calculations and statistical analysis showed that value p=O. 728, so Hl was rejected. It can be concluded that there was so not significant effect of use the skin traction with pain levels in pre operation femoral fracture patients. Suggestions for further research needs to be done with different methods and attention to other factors that could affect the research result.
