Abstract The purposes of this study are(I) to prove that there are two links between the use of mode of land transport and sectoral economic growth in east Java and (2) to ecplain the existence of the links in terms of type and nature of relationship and the degree of their close correlation. This study applied the pattern of retrospective pbsevational research with cross sectional and time series approaches. The data used in the research was the selective secondary data from several competent institutions, such as Department of Transportational and Communication, Cenreal Bureau of Statisctics, East Java Provincial Agencies, Railway State Enterprise and River, Lake and Ferry Transport State Enterprise.
