Pre surgery infonnalion has an imponant role in minimizing the anxiety of family who is waiting for a surgery, especially the emergency one. A family who is not ready for accepting a reality that their member have to get a surgery needs to have a very distinct information - at the time - in order helping the family to think rationally. This research was aimed to study the correlation between pre surgery information and the anxiety level of family who is waiting for an emergency surgery at IRD RSUO Dr. Soetomo Surabaya. The design of this research was cross sectional. The sample was family who is waiting for a surgery. The sampling had been done purposively with non probability sampling. The total sample, which could fulfill the inclusion criterion, was 30 respondents. Pre surgery information was the anxiety level of family. A questioner collected the data. The data was analyzed by cross tabulation through Spearman test with the meaning rate p ≤ 0,05. The statistical test with significance level of p = 0,000 (p ≤ 0,05) results that there is a correlation between the eX1ending of pre surgery information and level of anxiety. The quality of correlation was discovered by Spearman stati stical correlation between those two variables. From the research finding, we conclude that very distinct information may decline the anxiety level of family when wailing their member who is having an emergency surgery at IRD RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya.
