Summary:The objective of this study is to learn and describe the existence of Sasak puppet show within social change in Lombok, the structure of the context of Sasak puppet show with the act of Dewi Rengganis within the context of social change in Lombok, the social phenomena reflected into the Sasak puppet show with the act of Dewi Rengganis, and the social changes reflected into the Sasak puppet show with the act of Dewi Rengganis. This study applied qualitative methods. Its object was Sasak puppet show with the act of Dewi Rengganis in relation to social changes in Lombok. This study took place in West Lombok. The methods used to callect data were participant observation, interview, recording, and field notes. The data analyses were done using three techniques: descriptive analysis, analyses. content analysis, and comparative analyses. This study resulted in seventeen propositions as the following (1) traditional art remains to exist if it is enjoyed by the society and able to adapt to modern cultures, (2) traditional art cannot grow well if its people rarely put it on show and there are no adequate supporting facilities and infrastructure, (3) incidental afforts for the growth of traditional art will result in no development of it, (4) traditional art is forbidden if it is contradictory to religious faith, and conversely it is not forbidden if it is not in contradictory to religious faith, (5) traditional art designed to meet the public taste and presented popularly will further lose its originality, (6) art acting as government agent and power tool will get its fame, (7) artists with spontaneous dialogues will easily adapt to the situation and condition of its viewers, (8) artists who emphasize on fresh pornographic humors will be more enj oyed by the society, (9) the more the habit of getting married-and-divorced done the more widowers, sufferings, and drop-out children will be, (10) artists with wider views will be able to adapt themsel ves to modern cultures, (11) globalization and modernization will result in social changes in society, (12) the more the social phenomena reflected in art, the closer the relationship of art to its society, (13)
