Description
Summary:Due to the rising mental health issues in the adolescence period which threaten adolescents’ mental health and well-being, this study aims to explore the relation of sibling relationship and adolescents experiencing mental health issues. This study uses the scoping review method, utilising PRISMA-ScR to analyse the relationship between sibling relationships and mental health issues in adolescence. This study reviewed five articles and found that positive sibling relationships have been shown to influence and decrease depressive symptoms and serve as a buffer against problems that occur in adolescence. The influence of these relationships is seen stronger during the occurrence of low-quality or no parental relationships. Future research should include no sibling participants in their research and explore the dynamics within sibling relationships, including age, gender, order, race, and socioeconomic background to determine the further analysis of the dynamic of sibling relationships on adolescent mental health.
