Summary: | This research was done to compare stability of cephalexin and its derivate,
N-4-methylbenzoilcephalexin. N-4-methylbenzoilcephalexin has a great potency
to be developed furthermore, because it is more active against P. aeruginosa than
cephalexin. The stability was determined by studying degradation of these
compounds by comparing their physical chemistry’s parameters, which are
reaction rate (k), half-life period (t1/2), shelf life (t90) and energy of activation (Ea).
It was done by studying degradation of medicines at various temperature (40, 60,
70, 80oC) and various time (30, 60, 90, 120, 150 minutes) in condition pH 8.00. A
quantitative analysis was done by colorimetric method. It was obtained that N-4-
mehtylbenzoilcephalexin more stable than cephalexin. |
