Summary: | Type of birth delivery can affect the growth and development of children. The aim of the research was to understand the effects of breech birth on growth and development of children aged 1-3 years old in Sidoarjo region. Design of this study was prospective cohort study which compared growth and development of children aged 1-3 years with breech birth both by vaginal birth and caesarean section in May 1st- June 29th 2013.. Research population were mother and children aged 1-3 years with history of breed birth. Samples were children aged 12 months, 15 months, 18 months 21 months, 24 months, 30 months, and 36 months, and total samples were 62 children. Data was collected from RSUD Sidoarjo and home visit. Data analyzing used Mann-Whitney Test to compare growth with method of birth. Research proved that most of the samples, mothers were choosing vaginal birth (51, 6%), children in normal growth (74,2%), 41 children in healthy proper development (66,1%), growth with birth method p=0,303 (α>0,05). In other word, there was no difference in Child Growth either with vaginal birth or caesarean section. Growth with birth method p=0,009) (α<0,05). There was significant difference in child development with vaginal birth and caesarean section. As the conclusion, there was no difference in child growth with birth method but there was a difference in child development. As a recommendation, childbirth health care services should be more considerated of what kind of birth method a mother should choose in a breech baby position |
