Summary: | As we know there are many kinds of collective action. One of the collective action is social movement. Social movement itself has different background. Besides that the process how the participant organize the social movement and how the government give response to social movement also variated. It depends on the social context where they organize social movement. This study will explore three main things related to the background of social movement, the process of social movement and the response of the government to social movement. This qualitative study is conduct at Golokoe/Serise village which is most of its population organize social movement demand for the withdrawal of PT Arumbai mining industry. The field datas are collected by observation, depth interview and document research. Then the data will be analized with interpretive analysis. The data analysis will be shaped by social movement theory. The result of this research shows that social movement has a tight relation to the culture of the participant. It means the culture play an important role to shape the background, the procces, and the response of the government. Besides that, this study also shows us that each of the social movement aspect has their own role. So it is not wise for us to focus only in one aspect of social movement. |
