Description
Summary:Background: Silver sulphadiazine (SSD) is commonly used for burn, but in recent study it has been known that silver sulphadiazine has side effect, toxic for fibroblas, impairment epithelialisation and discoloring of skin. Many clinical study have been done that honey can be used for wound healing and management of burn (Molan, 2006; Barui et al, 2010). Method:The Randomize Post Test Only Control Group Design. 45 male Rattus norvegicus Wistar strain which are treated by boilled metal as model for second degree burn and divided in 5 groups for 5 times observation, day of 3, day of 6, day of 9, day of 12, and day of 15. Each day of obsevation concise of 9 rat which 3 rat of honey, 3 rat for silver sulphadiazine, and 3 rat of aquadest for control. Sample was colected and stained by Mallory Azan method staining for collagen. Data were analyze with Kruskall Wallis test folowed by Manna Withney test or One Way Analysis of Varian (ANOVA) folowed by Post Hoc Test with 99% significancy level. Result: The number of fibroblast in honey group is statistically significant (p= 0.037) increase than control and SSD group in the 9th day. The density of collagen fibre increase significantly (p= 0.037) in honey group than SSD and control group in the 12nd and 15th days, the thickness of epithel increase significantly (p= 0.046) in honey group than control and SSD group. Conclution: Honey is better than silver sulphadiazine in wound healing of burn by increasing fibroblast proliferation, density of collagen fibres, and epithelisation.
