This experiment was to know the difference between these two mouthwashes in reducing Candida sp. collony. Purpose: To know if there’s a difference between Sodium fluoride 0,05% and iodized salt 2% solution in reducing numbers of Candida sp. collony on acrylic denture base users. Methods: 14 subjects divided in two groups were requested to gargle with 20ml Sodium fluoride 0,05% and iodized salt 2% solution for 30 seconds. 2ml of their saliva was taken before and after gargling, dilution 10-1, spread in Saboraud Dextrose Agar, incubation process in temperature 37ºC, 2x24 hours, then counting process. Result: There was a significant difference of Candida sp. collony’s decrease before and after gargling, which decreasing of Sodium fluoride 0,05% users was higher than iodized salt 2% users. Conclusion: There was a difference between Sodium fluoride 0,05% and iodized salt 2% solution in reducing numbers of Candida sp. collony which reducing effect of Sodium fluoride 0,05% is higher than iodized salt 2%.
