Summary:The way of teaching is very essential for successful English learning process. The teacher needs to be able in combining two sides between the theory and the real fact in class. The internship program consists of these two sides, theory and practice. After the writer and other students in English Diploma got a brief of theory, it’s the right time to know the real world in teaching. Many problems had faced when the internship did, but it’s the process of finding the right way in teaching English. English Diploma in Universitas Airlangga is the great place for the writer to learn English, especially in teaching English as a second language. But the institution still needs a lot of improvement to be better. One of the suggestions, the students is supposed to be taught by the native speaker. The native lecturer is very important in order that students understand the English from people who use English as the mother tongue. During the six semester of studying, the writer never taught by the native speaker in the class. Besides that, the institution is supposed to give more about information about scholarship, workshop, or competition which help the students to improve learning English. During the internship, the writer tried to practice all of the theory given in the college. But, in some cases, the writer has to approach the learning process without any theory at all. The writer also tried to combine between soft skill and hard skill that mentioned in the previous chapter. She analyzed the students’ level, and treats them based on their characteristic. She also created the active interaction and the effective learning condition. The writer also developed the student’s soft skill. She told a story that has a great moral value. In last lesson, the writer brought the repetition and self reflection. The chemistry has been built between the writer and the school. The writer able to became friends of the students. One of the proof is some students asked the writer to train them in English debate competition. They said that they couldn’t be enjoying if were trained by Bu Ema (the writer’s supervisor). Another proof, the school satisfied with the writer’s job. The school said that after graduated, the writer may give the resume if want to be the teacher here. According to the writer, this school is recommended to be the internship place. This school is an ideal environment to practice teaching English. The teachers and staffs are friendly, they welcome to all beginner teacher, and the students as well. But, we must able to adjust quickly. Sometimes the supervisor will suddenly give command to teach to replace her. In the writer experience, the teacher must be well prepared even though there is no enough time to prepare. The internship program will be unforgettable memory for the writer, even though only one month. She got a lot of new knowledge in teaching. For instance, how to deal with very noisy class, how to change them into organized class, and another experiences that can’t explain here. Hopefully, through the internship, the writer will be good teacher in the future, make the students to be competitive and ready to face AEC.
