Description
Summary:Non-adherence of medication therapy was found among pulmonary tuberculosis patients at Semuntul Public Health Center. The patients adherence to the therapy was influenced by various factors. The purpose of this study was to explain factors related to medication therapy adherence of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis in Semuntul Public Health Center working area, Banyuasin Sumatera Selatan. The design of this study was correlation with 30 sample size of pulmonary tuberculosis patients who were taken by using purpossive sampling technique. Independent variable of this study were presdiposing factors (sex, job, knowledge, and patients attitude), enabling factors (health education and medication time), and reinforcing factor (nurse attitude). Dependent variabel was medication adherence. Data were taken using the questionnaire then analyzed with Chi Square statistic test. The result showed that in predisposing factors, medication therapy adherence did not correlate with sex (p=0,348) and job (p=428), but it showed a significant correlation with knowledge (p=0,000) and patients attitude (p=0,000). In enabling factors, medication therapy adherence had a significant correlation with health education (p=0,000), medication time (p=0,001). In reinforcing factors, medication therapy adherence did not correlate with nurse attitude (p=0,064). The result can be concluded that presdiposing factors (knowledge and patients attitude) and enabling factors (health education and medication time) relate to medication therapy adherence among patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Therefore, the results of this study suggest the public health center to arrange a health education regularly related to pulmonary tuberculosis medication therapy and the further research can develop a better research relate this study.
