Indeed, the demand for identical twins has been growing steadily, for those who wish to use such animals to acquire the appropriate techniquei for producing them. The purpose of the research was simplified method toward production of identical rat twins using fragment of a metal razor blade. The micromanipulation consisted of a Narishige micromanipulator (right unit] in addition on Nikon inverted microscope. The right unit of a manipulator was fitted with fragment of a metal razor blade. According to Soenardirahardjo (1990] technique, embryoiwere sliced in different ways; depend on different stage of development. on the morula stage, embryo was sliced through the central axis by lowering micromanipulator. It could is divided the compact morula and zona pellucida into two approximately equal fragments, which it called demy-embryos. The divided embryos on the blastuta stage have to similar way on compared in the morula stage with a little bit difference from previous technique. Embryos on the blastula stage were sliced so that the inner cell mass and trophoblast were divided into two approximately equal fragments. Both sliced on compact morula and inner cell mass was important rule on theie technique. Almost all demy embryos from both morula and blastula develop normally, although the demy embryos kept naked. Naked embryos means embryos with none or incomplete zona pellucida. The research indicates that zona pellucida play may not essential role to develop demy embryos to catch up their normal nature development. Research suggested possibility fragment of a metal razor blade was simplified method toward production of identical rat twins.
