Description
Summary:This research concern to confirm the causative agent of chickens suspected fowl cholera in chicken farms is Pasteurella multocida. The sample were isolated from chickens suspected fowl cholera with gross examined from the clinical sign and post-mortem finding of acute and chronic forms of fowl cholera. The samples were taken from heart and liver. All samples were inoculated on Blood Agar and incubated for 24 hours at 37°C and identification with Gram test, catalase test and biochemical test, such as TSIA test, SIM test, citrate test, urease test and sugars test. The bacterial colonies were examined for their morphological and biochemical characteristics with Pasteurella multocida. The result indicated the positive one of bacterial culture from 15 samples of layer chickens showed similarity with characteristic of Pasteurella multocida which is causative agent of fowl cholera.
