Summary:Milk production in Indonesia is still very low, so it is still importing as much as 60-70%. (Utomo and Miranti, 2010). One of the effort to improve milk production is by increasing the Fertility Index of dairy cows through artificial insemination. The aim of this study is to determine the fertility index Holstein Friesian dairy cows at the highland and lowland areas in Pasuruan District 2012-2014 period as specified by the value of CR, S/C and DO. The method used in this study by collecting data of AI operator’s reports as many as 100 AI acceptors and reinforced by interviews with farmers and AI operator. The results showed that the uplands has CR value, S/C, DO and IF higher than the lowlands areas which are 70; 1.44; 76.03; 98.06 (upland areas) and 47.33; 2.10; 95.07; 52.7 (lowlands). The conclusion of this study is there a significant difference to fertility index value in the highlands area with lowlands areas in Pasuruan in the period 2012-2014 due to forage given highland areas is much than in the lowlands.
