Summary: | The purpose of this study is to determine the frequency of the cases
regarding digestive disorder in older cat recorded at Veterinary Teaching Hospital
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Airlangga Surabaya period 2014 -
2016. Obtained data from medical history records were tabulate and classify
according to the age classification consisted of “mature” (7-10 years), “senior” (11
– 14 years), “geriatric” (≥15 years). The result of the frequency of digestive disorder
at Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Universitas Airlangga period 2014 - 2016 was
22.4% from the total 143 cases occurred in older cat. The case of digestive disorders
occurred mature cat was 65.6% which the highest case was flatulence with 15.6%
cases, on senior cat was 21.9% which the highest case were constipation and
gastritis with 6.3% cases, and for the geriatric cat was 12.5% which the highest case
was gastroenteritis with 6.3% cases. The results of case per each year were 25.0%
in 2014, 21.9% in 2015, and 53.1% in 2016. The highest case of digestive disorder
at Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Universitas Airlangga period 2014 – 2016 was in
2016 with total patients 17 cats. The results of this study would assist veterinarians
in supporting the implementation of the medical practice through clear monitoring
for precautions of risk factor so the incidence of the digestive disorders can be
suppressed. |
