Regarding its concept, power relation actually has two aspects; positive and negative. In this study, the writer will focus on the latter aspect which is also known as power resistance. This act is shown when the individuals resist the ideology and rebel the power. It is an essential point in power relation because if there is no resistance there is certainly no power either. That phenomenon is presented in a movie titled Snowpiercer. It presents the last survivors in the earth that live in a train which its wagons indicate social stratification. In Snowpiercer, the power relations are portrayed by two individuals from different place that shows resistance towards each other. The first power belongs to Willford who is the leader of the train and run the system. The other power belongs to Curtis who is the revolutionary leader and is assumed to be able to overthrow Willford’s authorities through the revolution. This study uses qualitative as the method, and in analyzing it the writer uses narrative and non-narrative approach. By using Foucault’s theory about power, the writer is going to reveal the portrayal of both powers that contradicts with each other and emerging revolution as the resistance in which tends to remaining and reinforcing the existing system, either in the movie or in the society. 2017 Thesis NonPeerReviewed text en http://repository.unair.ac.id/64414/1/FS%20BE%20125-17%20Nes%20t%20Abstrak.pdf text en http://repository.unair.ac.id/64414/2/FS%20BE%20125-17%20Nes%20t%20Sec.pdf Yasya Ghaida Nestiananta, 121311233037 (2017) THE PORTRAYAL OF POWER RELATION IN FILM SNOWPIERCE: A FOUCAULDIAN STUDY.
