The prevalence of this disorder is 1.5 to as high as 4 in 1,000 children. According to epidemiological studies, the prevalence of CP had been increasing, either due to real increase in number, or due to technological improvement in terms of diagnostic accuracy. Eversince its discovery, researchers have been conducting studies to find its etiology, but until today, we still have not known what is the cause and pathophysiology of this disorder. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the prenatal risk factors of CP. Methods: This study was an observational analytic with the design of case-control study. We collected the data from patients’ medical records which were maternal age, low birth weight, gestational age and the presence of asphyxia intrapartum. The case group consisted of 40 CP patients who were hospitalized with the diagnosis of CP (ICD G 80) in 2011 until 2015, while the control group was 40 dengue-infected (ICD A 90) patients without developmental disorder that were hospitalized in 2015. Both groups were patients of RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya. Results: Due to incomplete datas in the medical records, we could only examine mother’s maternal age. In the case group, 16 (66.7%) of the mothers were aged less than 20 or more than 35, while in the control group, only 2 (5%) of the mothers’ childbearing age were less than 20 or more than 35, this meant the risk of developing CP in patients with advanced maternal age and juvenile pregnancy were 12.67 times higher than those whose mothers were 20 – 35 years old while pregnant. (OR= 12.67, CI 95% 2.6716 - 60.0556, p= 0.000178) Conclusion: Too advanced (>35) or too low (<20) maternal age is one of the significant risk factors of CP (OR= 12.67, CI 95% 2.6716 - 60.0556, p= 0.000178). 2016 Thesis NonPeerReviewed text id http://repository.unair.ac.id/66565/1/FK.PD.223.17%20.%20Ram.f%20-%20ABSTRAK.pdf text id http://repository.unair.ac.id/66565/2/FK.PD.223.17%20.%20Ram.f%20-%20SEC.pdf Nadya Noor Ramadhania, NIM011311133155 (2016) FAKTOR RISIKO PRENATAL CEREBRAL PALSY. Introduction: Cerebral palsy is a motor disorder in children that is most commonly
found. The prevalence of this disorder is 1.5 to as high as 4 in 1,000 children.
According to epidemiological studies, the prevalence of CP had been increasing,
either due to real increase in number, or due to technological improvement in terms of
diagnostic accuracy. Eversince its discovery, researchers have been conducting
studies to find its etiology, but until today, we still have not known what is the cause
and pathophysiology of this disorder. Therefore, this study was conducted to
determine the prenatal risk factors of CP.
Methods: This study was an observational analytic with the design of case-control
study. We collected the data from patients’ medical records which were maternal age,
low birth weight, gestational age and the presence of asphyxia intrapartum. The case
group consisted of 40 CP patients who were hospitalized with the diagnosis of CP
(ICD G 80) in 2011 until 2015, while the control group was 40 dengue-infected (ICD
A 90) patients without developmental disorder that were hospitalized in 2015. Both
groups were patients of RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya.
Results: Due to incomplete datas in the medical records, we could only examine
mother’s maternal age. In the case group, 16 (66.7%) of the mothers were aged less
than 20 or more than 35, while in the control group, only 2 (5%) of the mothers’
childbearing age were less than 20 or more than 35, this meant the risk of developing
CP in patients with advanced maternal age and juvenile pregnancy were 12.67 times
higher than those whose mothers were 20 – 35 years old while pregnant. (OR= 12.67,
CI 95% 2.6716 - 60.0556, p= 0.000178)
Conclusion: Too advanced (>35) or too low (<20) maternal age is one of the
significant risk factors of CP (OR= 12.67, CI 95% 2.6716 - 60.0556, p= 0.000178). |
