understand the epidemiologic information of burn injury and its
complication.
Methods
This research use retrospective study of medical records in Dr. Soetomo
General Hospital to observe descriptive data such as ages, sex, causes of
burn injury, degree of burn injury, total body surface area, patient’s
outcome, and sepsis complication of burn injury patient in Burn Center at
Dr. Soetomo General Hospital from January 1st to December 31st 2015.
Results
From 61 sample collected, 41 (66%) of them were males while 20 (34%)
were females giving male:female ratio of 1.9:1. 25-62 group of age is the
most common age in burn injury (62.30%). Most common cause of burn
injury is flame with 45.90% of all the burn injury case. Retrospectively, 37
(60.66%) patient were cured, 23 (37.70%) patients were dead and 1 (1.64%)
patient were discharged. In this research, 14 patient were diagnosed with
sepsis which female patient have a higher number than male patient
(57.14%). Most common cause of burn with sepsis is flame with 7 patients
(50%). Death is the most common outcome in patient with sepsis (57.14%)
Conclusions
This research proves that burn injury with sepsis mostly occurs in females
with 25-65 group of age is the most common. This study also shows that
