Dog racing SF600-1100 Veterinary medicine Reports about intestinal protozoan in dogs at Surabaya are still limited. Protozoa infection of the gastrointestinal tract can cause diarrhea and even zoonosis. The aims of this research are to determine the genus and prevalence of intestinal protozoan and to know the prevalence of protozoan compared between dogs aged over one year and under one year in Surabaya. This research used 68 samples of dog feces kept in 2% potassium dichromate. Samples were collected from several areas of Surabaya, western, eastern, north and central, and feces samples were also determined by age, so that aged above one year were 33 samples and under one year of 35 samples. The research used native method, sediment method, floating method and Zhiel-nelseen staining. The results showed 50% prevalence i.e. 34 samples of protozoa are positively infected. 25 samples are positively infected by Blastocystis sp. (36.7%), 15 samples are positively infected by Cryptosporodium sp. (22.05%), 7 samples are positively infected by Balantidium coli (10.09%), 3 samples are positively infected by Isospora sp. (4.4%) and 4 samples are positively infected by Eimeria sp.(5.88%). There were two types of infections in 34 positive samples, they are 18 single infections (52.9%) and 16 double infections (47.1%). The prevalence of intestinal protozoan in dogs under one year is higher (61.7%) than over one year (38.2%). 2018 Thesis NonPeerReviewed text id http://repository.unair.ac.id/70744/1/KKC%20KK%20KH%2023-18%20Ekd%20p-Abstrak.pdf text id http://repository.unair.ac.id/70744/2/KKC%20KK%20KH%2023-18%20Ekd%20p.pdf SYAVIRA EKDHIASMARA, 061411131011 (2018) PREVALENSI PROTOZOA SALURAN PENCERNAAN PADA ANJING DI SURABAYA.
