The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of cherry leaf extract (Muntingia calabura L.) that are given orally to decreased levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) on blood serum of male white rat wistar strain of diabetic type meitus model 1. The total of 30 male rats wistar strain are divided into 6 groups. The negative control group K (-) was induced with aquadest and 1% CMC-Na during the therapy period. the positive control group K (+) induced with alloxan dose 120 mg / kg BW and CMC-Na 1%. the drug treatment group P (O) induced with alloxan and oral therapy with metformin 12.6 mg / 250g BW / day, treatment group 1 (P1) was given with alloxan and oral therapy with kersen leaf extract 250 mg / kg BW, treatment group 2 (P2) was given with alloxan therapy and orally with cherry leaf extract of 500 / kg BW, and treatment group 3 (P3) were given with alloxan therapy and orally with cherry leaf extract of 1,000 mg / kg BW. The therapy were given for 14 days, all rats were sacrificed and serum MDA levels were examined by thiobarbituricacid (TBA) method.
