METHOD: White male balb/c mice (Mus musculus), about 5 weeks old were divided on three groups (control, ‘precondition control’, and precondition). The sample size was 9 per group. The administration of moderate glucose precondition diet was for 4 weeks and then got the stressor high glucose diet for 4 weeks on precondition groups. The ‘precondition control’ received standar diet for 4 weeks and stressor high glucose diet for next 4 weeks. Expression of Akt, Pdx1, Hsp27, insulin beta cells, beta cell density, serum insulin level, and blood glucose level were analyzed. RESULTS: Compared with the other groups, precondition groups had elevated blood glucose level and decreased serum insulin level (p = 0.021; p = 0.002), however the lowest of serum insulin level was in ‘precondition control’ group. The Hsp27 expression showed a decrease in the precondition group compared with the other groups (p = 0.043). Whereas the expression of Akt, Pdx1, beta cell insulin, and beta cell density showed no significant difference (p 0.05).
