Description
Summary:Malnutrition in school-aged children on Bulak Banteng village increased every year. This can be caused by improper nutrition intake. Such as in Bulak Banteng, presumably it was mothers’ behavior in providing children’s nutritional needs that caused the malnutrition. This research examined factors affecting mothers’ preference in sustaining their school-aged children nutrition through the lens of Health Promotion Model. The participants of this study were 100 mothers of school age children that resided in Bulak Banteng Surabaya and involved using stratified random sampling technique. The Independent variables of this study were prior related behavior, self motivation, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, perceived self-efficacy, activity related affect and commitment in providing food. The Dependent variable was mother's behavior in providing nutritious meals. The data were collected using questionnaire and were then analyzed using linear regression statistic. Results: motivation, perceived barriers, self-efficacy and activity related affect influenced the respondents behavior in fulfilling children’s nutrition by p<0.05. Discussion: That motivation, self-efficacy,and activity related affect of the mother were increase, the behavior in nutrition were increase too. To reduce the incidence of malnutrition in school age children should involve motivation, and self-efficacy among mother’s behavior.
