Description
Summary:Introduction: Adolescents still find it difficult to choose which information is true and responsible about reproductive health including about vaginal hygiene. Most adolescents seek reproductive health include vaginal hygiene information to their friends, although they realize that their friends do not have adequate information as well. This study was aimed to investigate factors correlating with adolescents behavior on seeking information about vaginal hygiene based on Health Promotion Model Methods: Design used in this study was analytic cross sectional design. The population were all students in SMPN 45 Surabaya. Total sample was 172 respondents, taken with simple random sampling techniques. The independent variables were perceived benefits of action, perceived barriers to action, perceived self-efficacy and activity related affect. The dependent variable was information seeking behavior about vaginal hygiene. Data were collected by using questionnaire. Data were then analyzed by using spearman rho’s test with level of significance of < 0,05. Result: The result showed that perceived benefits of action have less correlation with information seeking behavior about vaginal hygiene (p = 0,000, r = 0,350), perceived self-efficacy have less correlation with information seeking behavior (p = 0,000, r = 0,367), and activity related affect have less correlation with information seeking behavior about vaginal hygiene (p = 0,000, r = 0,334). Discussion: It can be concluded that perceived benefits of action, perceived self efficacy and activity related affect has correlate with adolescent’s information seeking behavior about vaginal hygiene. So that, school health nurses should provide health education about vaginal hygiene so that adolescents perception about vaginal hygiene seeking information can be more positive.
