Summary:Slow Food has been a movement against fast food existence in the world since the 1980s initiated by Carlo Petrini. Slow food is a part of the slow lifestyle that aims to preserve the food plants and seeds, and also domestic animals and farming. However, the media define Slow Food unequally through people’s Persona because there is a difference in cultural background of certain person. Kinfolk, the most hype indie-lifestyle magazine that has been published since 2011, brings slow lifestyle as its contents of the magazine. Kinfolk magazine has spread in all over the world including Indonesia. The target readers of Kinfolk are 25-35 years old creative professional people. The purpose of this research is to reveal the representation of Slow Food culture according to the two figures in Kinfolk's food articles. In this research, qualitative approach is used because it suits for analyzing the deep meaning of a text. The research applies content analysis in order to make it easier to analyze text from media, especially articles from the magazine. Food articles consist of three figures on them. Nevertheless, the data are taken from two of three figures who work as outstanding chefs by looking at their popularity, time period,and works. Therefore, Martha Stewart and Edna Lewis are chosen for this research. Martha Stewart is a Polish-American whereas Edna Lewis is African-American. The result of the research is that Slow Food is portrayed differently according to how it is cooked, Personal narrative, and visual images in the articles. From those elements, it proves that media still gives a gap between people in the way of how they live because different race can influence the definition of Slow Food. It can be interpreted that media still take sides on dominant culture. Moreover, Slow Food cannot be separated from motherhood and beauty.
