In adult phase, especially women, who is believed to bear the burden more, the awareness of need of sisterhood becomes larger. One of the literary work that depicts about the power of sisterhood is Big Little Lies novel by Liane Moriarty. The aim of the study attempts to analyze the portrayal of sisterhood and its relation with patriarchal dominance depicted in the contemporary literature works, especially in Big Little Lies novel. Analysis of the issue conducted using feminism approach, specifically by Bell Hooks’ concept of sisterhood. The finding of the study shows that sisterhood traits depicted by the three female characters is considered as the ideal one by carrying the same spirit with what Bell Hooks’ expected within sisterhood. Furthermore, sisterhood managed to overcome patriarchal dominance by raising consciousness within women. The finding also shows that the strength of sisterhood lies within the characteristics of women themselves.
